Tara Giacalone, School Psychologist
I grew up in Hudson County, New Jersey. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a concentration in Elementary Education from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Upon graduation, I moved back to Hudson County and co-taught third grade in a resource in-class support classroom at a public school in Jersey City, NJ. I then become a Title 1 teacher at the Lincoln Annex Kindergarten Center in North Bergen, NJ in 2005. While teaching, I obtained a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology and a Professional Diploma in School Psychology from New Jersey City University (NJCU). In 2008 I transitioned from teacher to school psychologist on the Child Study Team. I have 3 children that keep me very busy with sports, dance, and other activities.
As the Lincoln School, school psychologist, I conduct psychological evaluations to determine students’ eligibility for special education and related services; collaborate with teacher, parents, and therapists to create Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for special needs students; and case manage special education students to ensure their educational, behavioral and social-emotional needs are met.
I am available should you have any concerns, questions, or updates regarding your child. My goal is to serve as a liaison to educational resources available to your child and you. Working together as a team, we can motivate, encourage, and make this school year a positive and wonderful learning experience.
