Educator Bio

Dr. Jaafar is a mother of four (three girls and one boy). She loves spending time with her family, traveling, writing, and reading. Her life's passion is to help others and in educating students of all ages. Dr. Jaafar's own educational journey is as follows:
  • K-12 Education in West New York, NJ (Memorial High School graduate, 1995)
  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Education (Certified K-8 Teacher)
  • Master of Arts in Urban Education - specializing in Administration and Supervision
  • Doctor of Education in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology specializing in K-12 Education, Learning, and Technology (Dissertation Title: Teacher Perceptions of Technology Integration and the Teacher-Student Relationship in the Middle School Classroom: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis)
 
Dr. Jaafar has been teaching in grades K-8 since the year 2000, primarily in the middle school where she taught English and Science. Currently, she is in the interventionist role at Lincoln School. She also serves as the Student Assistance Resource Program (SARP) Personnel for Lincoln School offering assistance to students and their families who need resources for mental health services and substance abuse services in our community. Dr. Jaafar also serves as a member of the Lincoln School Data Team helping teachers analyze data to drive instruction and helping to meet the individual needs of students. She also sits on the North Bergen School District Technology Committee working with other educators to bridge the transition of 21st Century Learning with technology integration. Dr. Jaafar is also a member of the Interdisciplinary Committee on the Hudson County Professional Learning Community. 
 
Dr. Jaafar has the privilege of also serving as adjunct professor as well as a dissertation reader for other doctoral students. She continues to participate in conducting research, in presenting in several educational conferences and professional development workshops, and enjoys writing to publish in various platforms. She has recently co-edited and published a book and published two chapters. Her research interests include effective instructional practices for 21st century teaching and learning, trauma in children and trauma-informed practices in schools, understanding the effects of impulse control disorders in the classroom, executive functioning, and how mental health affects children, adolescents, and adults socially, emotionally, and academically.
