SEL Activities

The school counselors are preparing activities for Grades 1 to 4  that you can do with your child during school closure.  Each week we will post activities on our website and in our Google Classrooms.
Perseverance

Perseverance is persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. In other words, you should never give up and keep doing something till the end, even when it is hard. Perseverance is trying a task again and again and again along with being patient and willing to work hard.

I would like for you all to view the reading of the book, A Chair for My Mother by Vera B. Williams.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV1ege3jEFE

After you listen to the reading of the book, I hope that you understand that you should always keep trying your best even when the task is difficult to achieve. You keep trying and trying, never giving up regardless of the obstacles. By being persistent, you will develop character and you will feel a sense of pride and joy for completing a task.

Here are some discussion questions that you can think about:

What has been the biggest obstacle you've overcome in your life? What steps did you take to overcome this challenge?
What are some ways you can show perseverance?
Why do you think having perseverance is important in order to complete a task?

You can use the links below that show different types of activities on perseverance with your family. Enjoy!!!
